"You want part time"
Dear Andrea:

    I have worked full time in two jobs for the last 16 years. I've been in my current job as office manager for six years. I want to be home in the afternoons for my two boys before they grow up on me. How do you sell employers on a dedicated, hard-working employee who only wants to work 25 hours a week? I don't feel many male employers can see things from my perspective. Any advice for how I should start or tailor my resume?

Dear Mom:

    Don't assume employers wouldn't be interested in a dedicated, hard-working employee on a part-time basis-including your present employer. Many companies realize they need to be flexible and are willing to accommodate good workers. Your resume wouldn't need to change. You do need to tell prospective employers of your objective. First, though, talk to your present boss. Present a proposal that shows how you'd complete your work or share responsibilities.
