Bosses

"Boss ignores you"

Dear Andrea:

My boss talks to other people in the office on a personal level but for some reason he will not come around to me. I am always at work and I am a nice person. I feel so left out. When we have after hour parties, I do not want to go because both my bosses ignore me and only talk to others. Please help.

    --Left Out

Dear Left Out:

If you're hanging back waiting for them to start a conversation, they may think you're not interested in talking. They may think you're timid or uncomfortable with them. For whatever reason, your bosses are not inclined to engage you in conversation. So since this is something that bothers you, you'll have to make the first move.

Stop thinking it's their responsibility to visit with you. Next time you have the chance, walk up to one of them and ask how things are going. The next time you see one of them, greet him and ask a few more questions. Each time it will be easier and eventually, they may come to you first.
